No information on Allison from key pad

While we are on Allison's, when you press the arrow keys I get nothing. No oil level, no trouble codes. Worked a month or so ago. Everything else is fine, keeping my fingers crossed 🤞. I'm a little hesitant to go polking around in it as we are way out right now. Any a ideas ?

There are probably some little micro switches under the membrane.  They might be getting sticky or dirty and not making good contact.  However, I think your instinct to not mess with the panel is a good one.  You can always check the fluid level with the dipstick, and unless you have some real transmission problems you don't need to view the stored codes.

X2    While I was taking a pic of Brett's re-do, I noticed a heavy dust on the switches. I'm going to put a towel over the keypad when we sit for a while.  ^.^d

Yep I think I'll resist the urge to fix it till it's broke.

Thanks Chuck, it is likely getting time for a preemptive rebuild.

Some  keypads can be taken apart and cleaned with a Q-tip and alcohol or electrical cleaner.  Search  " Clean Keypad ".  See picture Chuck found.

I know our shift pad was replaced in 2010, no record if everything else was.  Allison # 29507949. I don't have the mileage or the amount of use: everything has a life span.

Thanks Tom & Lynda for that lead!  I searched as suggested and came up with one very pertinent thread - link below.  The photos show our good friend Jor taking a touch pad apart.  The inside looks different from the photo in the thread I found.  I guess there may be different versions of this control pad.  And I'm not really clear on what, exactly, Jor "cleaned" when he had his apart.  Perhaps he will see this thread and provide a little more information on the procedure he followed.
