Windshield issues

Anyone had issues with the windshield shifting in a Unicoach? Mine looks like it has shifted to the passenger side?

Bruce,

To answer your basic question, Yes. Now what was found and the fix.

Check the coil on the "Raise" solenoid on the opposite side. (drivers side)  If it is died the passengers side is trying to keep the front level causing a twist.  I have found this on 2 different coaches.  After coil replacement on both coaches the windshields worked back in place after a couple of raise/lower operations.  If left unchecked it can cause the windshield to crack right along the curve.

Also, the glue joint below the windshield, and which is between the front cap and the dash plywood may have broken free (it has on my 1996 U320), which allows the front cap (and lower windshield) to move away from the dash. The center rubber seal on my windshield can move left or right enough to cause an air leak which results in a loud whistle. I must push the rubber sealer back into the middle where it overlaps the driver/passenger windshields about 1/8 inch with a 1/8 inch gap between the rubber and center edge of the windshield on each side.
Moving the rubber centre seal over that 1/8 inch is difficult and requires a four foot long piece of 3/4 by 3/4 and a hammer.

Some folks have had FOT renew the front cap - dash plywood joint.

The same separation can occur at the top of the windshield, and although this joint is intact on my 1996, I have seen coaches where separation has occurred.

I am considering installing the same type of aluminum body trim that is all over my coach, but on the front cap below the bottom of the windshield with two inch screws into the edge of the front of the dash plywood. The glue used only seems to hold for a few years.
Has anyone reattached the dash to front cap joint in a different way?

I had that happen this winter in Parker. I believe you and I talked about it when I saw you  Bruce.
Mine was the travel solenoid. Turned out being the right front T/S, even though the left bags wouldn't air up.Don't ask me why. It even stumped Aubrey.I have re-checked everything several times.Wire color's, air lines etc.
Yes, it split my R/H windshield on the curve from top to bottom. Was cracked elsewhere, so I was replacing it anyway.

Foretravel fixed my loose cap by removing both windshields then with the coach level glueing and clamping the cap to the coach structure with wood blocks and a lot of clamps all the way around the windshield opening and let it sit unmoved overnight.
The coach was indeed much stiffer and quieter after that repair.
Not sure but think it was around a $2000 repair.

Thanks for all the replies. When I get to Bakersfield next week I'll see if I can find a W/s guy that sounds like they know what going on. The HWH is working fine, experienced a bad solenoid a few years ago. Wyatt don't know if I need to get around the windshield with a hammer. Chris you know I'm going to hide out in the outback.

Had a local glass guy come out, pulled the locking spline and move the gasket back in place 75 bucks. We'll see if it stays in place. I am however fixing to order the locking spline tool from summit racing.

I believe Brian, in Australia, put his dash & front cap back together on his '89 GV with a mechanical solution.
I seem to recall something about bolting a dash-shaped piece he made to the front cap with bolts.

If the cap is loose, you may break the glass. You can feel the cap, top and bottom to see if it moves.i had our coach fixed at Foretrave!.

The cap on mine seems to be good a solid across the dash area and top.
