Dometic Refrigerator Seals

Has anyone here purchased a Dometic RM1282 door seal from Dometic Guy. Door Gaskets - The Dometic Guy His price is 30% of what Dometic/PPL wants?

I note that Fridge Seals (Australia) also has these seals at abou 40% of what Dometic/PPL wants?

Do you have any other suggestions for sourcing new door seals.
Cheers, Ken

Don't have a good source but our Norcold seal is $552 tax and all. It's just a seal. One great reason to go to residential

We bough a seal kit from FOT. The orig seal was put on during assembly and was pressed into the door assembly with a flap so you cut it off with a razor blade.  The new one comes with 2 sided tape.  That did not hold, nor did anything else I tried, and I tried most everything available.  Took it by FOT they tried and I ordered a residential and FOT refunded my money on the seal.  All is good now.

Oh, I don't like hearing any of this...  :o

Am headed to Nac this weekend and having some work done on the coach Monday, one of the tasks was to replace the seals on the fridge/freezer...  Looks like that particular task will be shelved while I contemplate a residential unit and be done with it...  $552 is simply ridiculous.

FYI, our new Lowe's electric refrigerator cost about $400, way less than the $552 seal kit cost.

We installed or Whirlpool fridg ourselves, so we have a new fridge for less than new door seals.

And for 6 years, just having frozen ice cream anytime we want, makes the switch worthwhile.

BTW, the door seals seem to cost

Maybe it's gotten better, but both my Dometics on our SOBs ran great for 10 years, full time. I had the last one re-built for around $400.00, that was dumb. it lasted a couple of years! Another case in point in the FT, was our failed stern Atwood furnace: my files showed "OH furnace, 11/12". My tech, who I trust said it was junk! Both taught me a lesson with fridges, furnaces, stoves and roof airs: "If you got 10+ years out of them, full time, and they fail, discounting simple repairs, throw them away and start fresh!  ^.^d

Have to disagree on one point Mike. The domestic in my coach is OEM. It wasn't cooling well. I did lots of research and spoke to lots of experts much smarter than me. All of them said that if I wasn't going with residential NOT to replace mine with a new domtetic. They aren't made like they were. Mine needed attention but it is 25 years old.

I have a new cooling unit and a new Dino board so the key parts are new.  I have a 5 year warrantee on the cooling unit.

The warrantee on a brand new domestic is one year.

Is your new cooling unit one of the Amish rebuilds, Jeff?  Have heard good things about them, especially the ones that use helium...

Thank you for all of your comments. Still wondering how legit the Dometic Guy is.

Bill/Kim, It's a new unit from JC Refridgeration. They offer helium but this one is ammonia.
