Electrical System Protection

Having spent the past week analyzing, restoring and worrying about my house electrical system, I noted that one prominent RV newsletter (Campaddict.com) posted an article about surge protection for potentially faulty 30-amp camp pedestals. Two questions emerged from this: 1. What OEM protections may have been installed on an '89 U300 GV; and, 2. Why does the author focus exclusively on 30-amp service?

Addendum:  I may have answered my own question, recalling that there is an electrical panel on the cabinet just aft of the entryway, which may be an EMS. However, I would still like to hear comments about this, as to whether such an electrical monitor includes surge- and phase/over/under-volt protection or not.

Thanks!

EMS units come in all shapes and sizes, and do different things. Can you I.D. the unit & send a pic?    Progressive Industries, Inc. | Rv Surge Protection

Yes, I will. I will take photos in the morning, plus access what I can from the very shallow FT Owner's Manual documents.

I would think if you had a EMS, it would be aftermarket. Check for any paperwork, if possible.  ^.^d

My 89 has no protection, plugged in at home 2nd day after I got in home and smoked the microwave. By the time you see the warning light in the coach it may be too late. I had checked all of the outlets in the house previously. Never thought about checking the outlet on the yard light next to the driveway as I had never used it.
