Bulkhead inspection/repair

Anyone know of a shop in the north west that has any experience with bulkhead repairs/ inspection. I know I have a few issues but Nac is not in the travel plans this year.

I just had a complete Bulkhead restoration done at Truline in Spokane, WA

My bulkhead Rolock bolts had sheared, and after removal of the underside fiberglas shield and the basement floors, it was tevealed that about six feet forward of the bulkhead was very badly corroded from moisture damage. There have been worse tube-frame corrosion cases reported, but mine was bad, requiring a substantial removal and restoration of the frame structure, in order to replace all corroded tubing and grafting in new structural steel.

Truline did a great job and also provided repair/replacement of other components, including fresh-, grey and blackwater tanks and components that had likely contributed to the underlying problems. They also discovered a propane leak that could have been major, and checked all of my systems and appliances, replacing a faulty gas range and a failed refrigeration control unit.

I highly recommend Truline RV in Spokane, WA (509) 994-7875.

Always glad to hear good news about nice work. Is that the place that has people from the FT dealer that used to be in that area?
Now, if I could JUST find someone like that in Phoenix/Tucson!  ^.^d

No, that is R&R. They wouldn't touch Randell's.
It's trueline. I highly recommend Chad. When I worked for La Mesa RV as recondition manager, I sent lots of work to him, never disappointed.
Any questions he has, he calls me to ask for input.

That's not too far from Portland Or. and much closer that Nac, should I need it.  I would also like to know the ball park cost of the repair.  I know there is a bunch of variables.

Same boat we are in, Bruce. The mileage to NAC and Spokane are about the same for us. I'd rather go north!  ^.^d  Still looking locally, but no 'high fives' for Phoenix/Tucson.

It will be hard to quote. Depends on what you need. Could be basic work, could be very involved like Randell's was. They had to rebuild most the rear lower compartment area, pretty major. Lots of fab work and welding.
My friend Matt from Austria, only needed bolt repair on his U270, took a couple of days.
Another friend Lucky, was not so lucky with his U270, same thing as Randell, major rebuild on lower rear compartment's. Lucky's coach came from Alaska.Pretty rusty, crusty.

It would be helpful to know the prices on both types of repair. If there was a dozen or so examples a guy could have a ball park range to expect.

I think if one were to search, one would find a bunch of pricing info here.  For us at MOT it was about $3700.00.  One section removed and replaced.

From my experience, most RV places are not going to pre-quote a price. NAC does this all the time, and they have jigs, so less fabrication work. In Spokane, most shops are $140.00 hr, plus sales tax of 8.5% on ALL labor. That's a state deal.
I just quoted a price for a water damaged camper repair , and the time is now double. When you open up rust, or rotten wood, you don't know what is behind stuff till you see it. I always warn people.

X2......I was a restoration carpenter for years. We gave a client a 'rough price', which turned into a nightmare once we opened up the walls. It was double our 'guesstimate' The client was not pleased, my partner said, "next time we give you a price, double it."  ^.^d

That's the thing about these coaches, they are worth the continued investment. How many other brands are.

Thanks so much for the cost figures. Ours seems tight and no repairs yet. But it's going to get the bulkhead treatment in the future. Cause we like it

I bought an 36' ORED, my basement storage sucks for sure but is a very strong foundation. It's only 8 feet wide, no slides, can only tow 6k, after loading 4k of fluids and household items and other stuff. 300 hp only. Paid cash. It's a 29 year old mistress. Burns thru a gallon of diesel every 10 miles. 95k on the clock. See no reason why not a trip to Alaska.
