Suspend XM

I found today in talking to SiriusXM that I can suspend their service to the RV for up to five months per year.  I did not know of that, perhaps you did though.

I was going to drop the service due to paying for a full year but using less than that.

I think the number I got to after transfers was 866-635-2349.

That would work, OR, you can have a setup that allows you to use your SiriusXM subscription both on the road and at your home base.

We have a Stratus 7 receiver that came with a vehicle kit, which I installed in our coach.  Plays through the same speakers as our AM/FM/CD/MP3 in-dash unit.  Gets excellent reception with the little "puck" antenna laying on the dash at base of windshield.

When at home, we can pull the Stratus 7 receiver out of the coach dock, and plug it into our Portable Speaker Dock.  We can move it around to any room in the house or out in my garage/shop as desired.  It provides very nicely balanced, rich sound quality.  AC or DC powered, with a wired external antenna to use as required.

Since we don't care about half the stuff on XM radio, we have one of the low-cost 50 channel "A La Carte" subscriptions.  Allows us to choose any 50 channels from the "eligible" list (includes most all the music channels plus some news and talk stuff).  We can adjust our menu selections once a year without charge.  With tax and fees, costs $11.30 per month.  Works for us!  ^.^d

I will let you all in on a little secret.. A little chunk up front and if taken care of will last a long while.. I bought one for the Motorhome, My sons Jeep and my Daughters car.. I have had the Coach one for over a year and its still updates and goes.

Buy from one that has sold these before and shop.. I paid anywhere from $200.00 to $350.00 depending on what came with it..
Do not call to question service or ANYTHING!! They will shut you off.. Not a whole lat of these around anymore but still a few..They do not offer this package anymore either.

I am cheap per se... worth the money but plz use a person that if it dies he will replace it and dont tamper with the radio if it stops working...

DO NOT GET THE ONE THAT SAYS POSSIBLE LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION!! Get the one that says it is.. not worth the chance!!

David,

When it says radio receiver only, what else do I need to get?

Thanks,

Car kit or a home kit... car kit will work off the coach radio and home kit works like it was in the house which would still work but you will need to plug into some speakers of sorts through acc cord.. I have the boom box I bought for the coach so if I want to take it outside I can..

DW likes this service. I don't care too much. When it comes due I tell them to cancel it. They make me talk to one or two other folks and I finally agree to renew for $25/6 months just like I have for the last few years. If  don't call to cancel it on time it will renew automatically for 14.95/mo.
It's kind of fun.

Dick, I like your attitude.  That approach also works with cable and satellite TV people.  :))

I just went through this today. We got a free subscription for a few months when we bought the MKT. A few days ago I got an emailed bill and I said that I wasn't interested it having the service and wanted to cancel. No response. Today I got another emailed bill, so I tried to cancel via their message service. I got a response that said I couldn't cancel online but had to call, which I did. The lady I talked to tried several times to get me to extend. One question she asked was what I listened to when I wasn't using the service. I said, "Silence. The radio is off." She couldn't understand that and asked again. I explained that often when I'm alone in the car I'll use the time to think, and when Jo Ann is with me we are usually discussing something. Long story short, I eventually got the service cancelled, although they are still wanting $3 because I didn't cancel soon enough. Since I don't want them to have any credit card number for us I'll probably print out the next bill and mail them a check.

I have it in both our cars. I like the service a lot. Mostly I listen to the news, but there are some Jazz channels I like, as well as the 60's-80's channels. Most of it is junk IMO and I wish I didn't have to pay for that. The comedy channels are good when I am feeling sleepy and need a laugh. PBS, BBC and Bloomberg for when I want to learn something new from around the world. I have a short commute to work, and yeah,  there are times when I just want silence. I then just turn down the volume.

Somehow I was able to transfer a lifetime subscription from the previous owner of my coach to me. Every channel available.

I got lucky. I was able to transfer a lifetime subscription from the previous (deceased) owner to me when I bought the coach. I tried to get them to add my car but no dice.  ;D

Some would like to argue them every 5 months and get a discount.. I pay a flat fee and be done with it.. never talked to anyone at xm about it.. I have 3 radios with lifetime activation... in the end, depending on how long you pay... Worth the cost to me to NOT talk to anyone at XM ^.^d

I cancelled our account today.  Thought we would use it more than we did.  They did try to entice me with a different, less expensive, program, but I did cancel.  I think the Customer Service reps. are trained to keep you as a customer if possible.

Thanks Mike for the reminder.  :D
