Refrigerator Fans

Anyone have a source for those little 12v clip on fans for the cooling fins on the absorption frig? Found some old posts but the item is no longer available. I don't really want to make up a muffin fan deal; prefer a quick fix. I see a Dometic unit for like 70 bucks but that's a bit pricey for this project. I have two mounted now (ken hatt's photo below) but one is no longer operable so I need two more. Thanks.

I like our muffin fans, no idea where Brett got them. They're wired to one of the rocker switches above the sink. THEY SAY, they perform best in high humidity, but I use them (daytime only, they are a little noisy) up here and think they help. ^.^d

Mike,

Suspect you are talking about the two muffin fans mounted at the top of the refrigerator condenser exhausting UP.  Controlled by switch over kitchen sink.

Very different than muffin fans on the inside of the refrigerator blowing on the fins to more evenly distribute cooling.

Both have their purpose.

I have the kind from RV cooling units that Ken referred to. I just had the inline fuse blow and contacted them to find out the fuse rating.
These are the ones I bought.

I noticed the bearings in one of the fans was noisy so I replaced both fans and put metal grates on them to protect the fans. I used these.

They are out of stock. Maybe later or maybe I'll end up chaining some muffins. John, do you recall where you got yours last year? Anyone else? Thanks.

Been using this for the past few years:

It seems to blow the air evenly down on the coils.

I see rv smart products made a unit to fit my side by side.  I talked to him about this 5 years ago but never finished up.

Hopefully my 7832 is the same as the 7732 unit he shows?

My fan installation.  I pick up the power from the fridge light. I always wondered if 2 fan units would have been better for air circulation

I ended up going with the fans from RV Cooling Unit Warehouse (RV Cooling Unit Warehouse). These fans look to be of good quality. The old ones I had did not prevent the fins from frosting over. I'm hoping these will do a better job. From the other responses to this thread, I'm thinking they will do the job. Here's a few photos. The first two compare the old fan with the new. When I had MOT replace the refrigerator with a Norcold, I asked if they would wire the fan inside to move air. I should have done it myself as the fan works great when the refrigerator door is open. So whenever, I decide to fix it; it is the time when using the refrigerator is needed. So it is on the to do list when it becomes necessary to defrost. Shame on me for assuming it would be done right.

Would like to know what purpose the fans on top of the condenser are, and are they used only at certain times?
