City water intake not filling water tank

I'm hooked up to my spigot.Water runs out of my inside faucets regardless of the valve position. There's a little dampness around the valve.
Where should I start trouble shooting?

Might just be some condensation.  I sounds like you may need a new valve.

Hi Goldbehen,

I have experienced water valve problems where the valve was frozen 3/4 closed taking 4 hours to fill the tank. I replaced it & the problem was corrected. I believe you have a vale needing replacement. Mine is located under the bathroom sink floor.

I'll replace the valve and see if that corrects the problem. Thanks .

Well I replaced the valve and still no water into the tank. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Still getting water everywhere else. Just not filling the tank.

May be the check valve at your water fill connection. You may be able to tap it lightly.

gold,

Did this happen all of a sudden or did it slow down over a period of time and has stopped?  If the latter you may need to do an acid wash with vinegar to clear out the calcium build up.

I was hooked up to a steady supply of well water. It's been a couple months since I needed to fill the tank. The water did have iron in it. Would I still be getting water to all the faucets if it were a check valve? How do I do a vinegar wash?

My bad, if water is at the faucets the it's not the check valve.

It sounds like you have a stopped up fitting between the fill valve and the tank. Depending on the layout of your coach you could have several brass fittings that could be the problem child.

When we do an acid wash we use an old water pump to simply pump in white vinegar into the domestic water system.  Your problem is unique in that if your fill line to the tank is stopped up it is going to be a challenge to get the vinegar into this line.

Did you look over the old valve that you removed?  Was it all there? Like no parts missing.  Not knowing what valve you have (ball, gate, globe) it could have some parts that have went down the line. Now this is a real remote thing that could happen, not likely but I have seen stranger things happen.

Have you recently replaced the anti backflow valve due to failure?  Now that thing has some parts that could be sent down the line if they had broke up into pieces. If this was to happen you most likely not have water to the rest of the spigots inside the coach.

My fresh water tank has a fine plastic cone shape filter that slips deep into 1/2" threaded inlet.

The old valve looked intact. Must be a blockage somewhere. If I had to bypass the current intake , is there a gravity inlet that can be added to the top of the tank?
Thanks

I added a simple direct fill adapter to our water tank.  What did you do to your coach today VII

I ordered the adapter and will simply bypass the bypass . It'll simplify filling the tank. Great suggestion.
Thanks everyone.
