Front Hub Kits

I have a right front hub leaking and I was wondering if my 97 has the Stemco window, seals and plug?  I looked at the back side of the wheel and I dont see any oil leaking on there side so I am guessing it might be the plug or O ring?

There is a TA with service center about 4 miles from my coach where I can probably get parts.

That is what you should have.  I would pull the center cap to check. Stemco has their numbers on them.  But, could be either an overfill or a center rubber plug that has hardened and shrunk.

Thanks Brett, I will go add duct tape to my pile of stuff to take out next trip.
I saw some place that there might be a vent?  If so is it in the window?

1.  Yes
2. No
2a. The vent is in the center of the red fill cap/plug.

Be sure to be parked dead level side to side when checking front hub oil level.  Even a little out of level will give an erroneous reading.

Thanks Brett, That may be the problem now then but even though the right side is low where it is parked I think the oil lever is well below the center of the red cap.

I will get the cleaner out and clean up the hub area so I can see just where the level is  where it is setting.  If I need to add some I will have to pull it our and up the hill a ways get get it close to level "LOL"

The oil level should never be at the center of the red cap/plug.

There is a line with writing and an arrow pointing to the circle that shows the proper oil level.

Ok, I was thinking that if the level was even with the hole at a angle that could be where the leakage was coming from but if it is below it I need to figure on a new plug or one of the kits with the big O-ring too and if doing one might as well do both.  ;)

Access it and see what the problem is.  Replacing the center plug is a 5 second job and no fluid loss.  The O ring, probably an hour and kind of messy.

Replaced mine and well worth calling Brad at foretravel for replacements , as i could not locate the smaller two inch windows anywhere . Same cost as six inch windows i had sent to me twice by mistake , just shipping little higher but well worth the time .
