Running absorption refrigerator on propane

Neal, thank you. I had wondered about the arguments presented here about the advantages of residential refridgerators. I am old enough to remember absorption units in our homes before TVA.
I just bought a 1986 grand villa. How do i run fridge on gas

I split the post above off from the totally unrelated one where it was initially posted.

Old phart phred had already posted a response.

sherland,

Welcome to the ForeForum.

Your absorption refrigerator requires 12 VDC to the back of the refrigerator as well as propane to operate (assuming it is not so old that it just has a pilot light.

So, confirm 12 VDC to the back of the refrigerator (outside access door for the refrigerator).

Then conform that propane is on-- does the propane stove work?

With both confirmed, tell us how far into the "light and run on propane" your refrigerator gets:

Click from the ignitor
Feel the gas valve open
See flame below the burner flue
