Generator Muffler

Anyone replaced the generator muffler? This rig has a pretty large gen muffler. It works fine (about 63 decibels at 30' from the source) but I'd like to replace it with one that doesn't hang down so far. This may be a replacement as I don't recall others I've had as so large. Anyhow, looking for someone's project that I can knock off. Thanks.

That looks the same as the original generator muffler on my 98.  My exhaust tip is snugged up pretty close to the fiberglass though, unlike yours.  I think you just need to bend the support clips for it upwards with some pliers or a hammer.

Got my generator muffler placed properly. I ended up modifying and relocating the fender brace, reversing the muffler body attachment clamps and drilling new mounting holes. It looked like the muffler had never been worked on. My theory is Foretravel (or someone long ago) installed the wrong fender brace and when they mounted the muffler the fender brace prevented proper placement. All good now.

Nice work!  Another project for my long list...  Your muffler looks exactly like ours, only (now) prettier.  I think ours is original from the factory.  I have always wondered about the purpose of the plug threaded into the bottom tapped hole?
