Entry Door

I am not sure if I am missing something but my entry door has a screen door inside, that is all nice and well.

but if you want to leave the outer door open and just have the screen door closed. what holds the outer door open?

Thanks

If you have the PTL door the Posi-Loc keeps it open. Look on top of the door and see if you have it and if so can you fix it?

Thanks craneman, I did final find a picture of the assembly and mine look different, I am not sure if it was just a model change or what.

My Pivot point is at the tip of both arms as in the picture below, the ones I say the pivot point was at the end of one arm and the other arm was about a inch from the tip.

Yours looks like mine did before I welded the metal piece to it. I think I may have posted pictures of the repair.

The problem that I have is I can open the door from the inside with ease. But when I try opening it from the outside it doesn't release, I have to hit the side of the door for it to release. This just started a week ago.  It also doesn't close as easy as it did before.

I do not want to be redundant -

I was able to take off our inside, black door handle, and tighten the cable that goes to the top of the door locking pin.

You might remove the handle and see if your can tighten to pill the locking pin cable

I think this is the company that makes your doors:

Handles & Locking Mechanisms - PTL Engineering

I did not see our door locking mechanism, but if you contact them, they can ask the right questions and identify what you have.  At that point you can order a new hinge assembly or not.  It's been a couple of years since I had to replace ours.  Not hard once you get the angle of the dangle.  :D

If you would like to chat - PM me your Tel no.  as well as acceptable time to phone.

Jimmy,

Make sure you lube the latch and striker plate.  I use silicone spray and it helps mine work much better.  Easy first thing to try.

Steve,
PTL Engineering does not make the cable posi-lock anymore. They have a different type now without the cable. If you want the old style with cable try Foretravel. I got one from them a few months ago.

When I adjusted the cable tension that retracts the locking pin on top of the door, I did not have to remove the entire door panel only the black inside door release.  I do not see the cable in the picture you posted.

I have performed the cable adjustment on our 2002 and our 2001.

I purchased the replacement top locking mechanism  from PTL about 5 years ago.
