Leak around power steering

I have a leak coming from around power steering unit. Cleaned it up butpp cannot tell where it is coming from. Anyone had this problem find the source. Thanks

Is this the same leak you asked about 2 months ago, or a different leak?

Same leak. Been pretty busy and trying to address this problem before a trip. It isn't a big leak. It just accumulates over time. I am impressed with your being up to date. Thanks

Chuck, the oil sensor leak was fixed and he replaced the pump parts but it there is still a leak coming from that general area
 It is a tight spot so it is hard to determine where it is coming from. Thought maybe someone might have an idea where on the unit I could expect a leak

Bob,

It will be very difficult for anyone to "guess" where your leak originates, especially from long distance.

99% of the time, when dealing with any "mystery leak" situation, a tried and true diagnostic process is followed:

1.  As best you can, clean off ALL the old oil and dirt from the area.

2.  Run the engine (or drive the coach) and wait (hopefully) until such time as fresh oil appears at the source of the leak.

3.  Fix the leak.

Hello Bob,  I have a 1985 V917 3208T.  I had a big leak at the pump.  I removed the power steering pump and found that it was leaking at the return hose as it connects to the metal pump assembly. It looks like someone moved the hose with force and it broke the weld of the tube going in the pump.  I took it to a welder and he cleaned it up and welded the return tub in place and he showed me that there were cracks all around the return tube.  He welded it back together and hooked air to the pump to check his work.  I reinstalled the power steering pump added some Lucas power steering fix and six months has passed with no leaks.  I looked on the web for that pump 6 to 8 hundred dollars if you can find one.  I hope this helps..  It might be best to remove it from the engine to see what you have..  It took me about 2 hours to remove the unit in my driveway. I'm just a shade tree mechanic. LOL

If the build number is that four digit number on the top front and back mine is 7433.  Whatta I know?  Am I wrong?

That is a member number.. build number is on the plaque next tot he driver seat (typically) Mine is #5974 you would be under that one by a few

7433 is a fairly old 4-digit Motorcade Club member number.  Might have belonged to the original owner of the coach?

Build number is 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th digits in the MODEL number, which is the bottom line on the metal I.D. plate next to driver seat.

On the ORED older GV it's the unit no. First line on the alignment data plate on the back of the glovebox door. Don't know if the Uni's are that way.

OK - good info!  I wasn't aware of when the factory started fitting the metal I.D. plates to coaches.  So Philip might need to do some sleuthing.
