Removal of LR slide valence to service locking pins and connections

I need to get at the top front locking pins and receiver in order to check the connections there.    What is the best way to detach the interior slide valance that stretches across the top of the length of the slide?

Two people and an electric screw gun. I did mine way too many times.

Some techs take off the top and sides as one piece.  I think it is easier to take the top off and then the sides.  Mine are held together at the top corners by about 4 screws each corner.  Take them out first and then the screws that go up from the bottom side.  They are usually covered with button caps.

And after you get the top off, add several cleats so that you can lift it up and hang it on the top of the slide edge when you reinstall it.  Makes it much easier.

Rich, your 2002 is not the same as a 2001.  Should be like John suggested.  A helper or two is always nice.
