ac silencer

My ducted heat pump/ac's are pretty noisy, so though I would try this. Not sure it is worth $190.

What's the verdict?  $190 for an 8 dba reduction?  I too was tempted by the ad.

-5db. Doesn't look like it does what it claims.  Loss of headroom too. No performance guarantee and no warranty on the website

Reduce sound levels 8-10 decibels (dB) and increase airflow*
* Depending on RV type and configuration.

Definitely a bit quieter, does not live up to specs though, lost about 1/2 inch in headroom. It is all plastic with no moving parts so not so too worried about warranty, fits well, improved filter.
All and all, if I could buy another one for $50, would put one on the rear unit. But for $190, no.

I personally don't mind the background noise of the air conditioning.  It helps cover the ringing of my ears from 50 years around jet aircraft.

Most of my new ac unit noise is caused by extreme turbulence and high velocities in the main supply drop duct and the ceiling grille assembly. It roars for sure. Lots of room for improvement, but would anybody pay estimated $1800+ for each ac unit for a quiter modulating
fans and more efficient (900 watt) unit of the same 13.5k capacity???  Almost clogged filters on the wacko unit would reduce fan noise levels until the evaporator coil freezes for sure, but at that point the compressor gets noisy. Travel trailers which make up a majority of the marketplace are not the same as a motorhome that arrives at the destination fairly well cooled. TT arrive and it's 100+ inside in the summer, and they need excess capacity to drop temps fast while they scurry about outside to do setup. Some people will shell out big bucks on solar and lith ion battery banks because it's hip, but how many would spend big bucks to kill the AC demand in the first place because they are going pole to pole at campgrounds. Just food for thought. I will try to build my state of the art ac system because that's what I like to do, cost effective at this time hell no, but I will win the event for now! Racing, excellence, and dominace of the field is in my bloodstream.

I'm hoping my original a/c units last until someone comes out with an inverter unit similar to the mini-splits.  I think Dometic is producing one in Australia so hopefully we'll see it soon.
I was interested in the ad also but not for that much $.
