tranny output seal repair, Bernd’s Shop

MOT found in our annual service that the transmission output shaft seal was leaking.

Bernd's Stephen Vaughan put in a new seal kit and in doing this found that the old seal had a small area of damage that in time led to the leak.  Apparently the prior replacement of the seal at another shop used a screwdriver to remove the old seal but in doing so scored the metal surface where the seal sits.  The small burr overtime created enough damage to the new seal that it began to leak.

Stephen reported he sees this from time to time where someone pried the old seal out incorrectly and scored the tranny surface.

thankfull......MOT identifed and Bernd's shop fixed it quickly and not expensive.
