Winegard ConnecT 2 question.

Susie and I bought a new Winegard ConnecT 2 at Quartzsite this year.  This model is for helping wifi signal and cellular 4G signal. We've used it already in a wifi situation and it did bring in a better signal where it was weak before. Now I'm trying to solve the cell signal part of this thing.

First a little bit about what we have been doing ( electronically challenged here). We both use Apple cell phones and have had cell phone plans with about 20 gig of data ( Verizon because where we live (4months) Verizon is best coverage).  We cut the cord on Direct TV last year ( the old traveler dish didn't work that great anyway)  and thought we will just stream tv.  Which works pretty good until we run out of data and then it struggles ( buffers a lot) with everything but Netflix.

So I got the bright idea that this new Winegard antenna ( booster) could be used by adding a LOT of data to the "SIM" card that it has we would use it as a hot spot for her phone, my phone, my IPad , the Mac and our Apple TV when ever we were in the coach and also navigation when traveling ( my phone).

I was somewhat prepared for Verizon to be clueless ( according to chat) when I went there and they did not disappoint. The sales guy had no clue when I brought up the Winegard and tried to sell me some thing that plugs into the Jeep so we could also get a device for keeping the ignition on in the Jeep and use that as a hot spot.    NOT.  I thought there had to be a better way. He told me that the max I could get on the SIM card would be 15 gig. Which doesn't realy help much.

Soooo. Am I barking up the wrong tree here. Can these Winegard boosters be used like I'd like to.  I figured here would be a great way to get the straight scoop and the answer could benefit Foretravlers in the future ( at least until the thing is obsolete).

Thanks John, I'll contact Fortravel. Can't hurt to ask and I hadn't thought of FOT.  Makes sense though, lots of electronics going on in a new one.

Bob, check these two out on YouTube.  They are electronic gurus and know their stuff.  If this link doesn't answer all your questions, check their other YouTube videos.

The video did clear up some questions.  I'm finding that the Winegard will be a good asset to our coach but streaming tv for hours a day would be a very expensive route I think.  May end up with Dish for that anyway.  Darn Fox Business channel for the wife is complicating things.

Bob, if you go the Winegard route, I ordered the Traveler dish from Amazon with zero tax and shipping.  Programming was a little cheaper than Directv.  I  tried Roku TV and you still need internet speed.  If you have the unlimited from your cell company, it stills gets throttled down as you use it and I just thought the dish was the better route to go, in my opinion.
There is another Youtuber that is an electronic wizard and has all the bells and whistles in his coach.  Do a search for "Outside our Bubble"  This guy is a hoot and knows his stuff about streaming, etc., like Technomadia!

Would the W. traveler be an in motion satellite receiver.    We really never have the tv on while driving.    😚 as someone once said. " my wife drives, I just steer the coach".

No, it is a stationary dish.  Just do a search for Winegard Traveler.  I would never again spend the money for an in-motion dish.  Had one, done that!
