Checking Battery Water Levels in a U225

I have a watering system for my 6v lead/acid house batteries but have had to disconnect the 8D starting battery and pull it half way out to check the water level. Is there a way to check/add water without pulling it out? Those who have a U225 know there is very little space above the battery.

Use a small mirror and flashlight to check level.

I made a watering container from old squeeze ketchup bottle and 2' of clear plastic hose (any hardware store).  Siliconed the hose through the  bottle top opening.  Fill bottle with distilled water-- squeeze to dispense water.

Thanks Wolfe. I think you just saved a few of us hernias.

Problem I've had with my old engine battery was how to check the level.  There are ways to get water into them, but how do you check to know how much and when they are at the right level??  I solved my problem by installing a maintenance free battery.  So far, doing well.  My house batteries are not maint. free, but are accessible to check level and add water.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz
