Re: Water Fill Solenoid relay

I replaced my water fill valve with a ball valve and haven't been able to test it cause coach is still winterized.  Is that an ok manual substitute?  Took the old valve apart to clean it and hopefully reuse.  Looks like the diaframe has the tiniest of holes in it, the size of the small end of a toothpick. Could this be why it is not working. The solenoid was clicking when the water fill switch was turned on.  Has anyone used the replacement DavidS recommends above?  Found the rebuild kit for $105, doesn't specify what is in the kit.  Will keep searching, thanks for your help and suggestions

1.Yes it could be the problem.
2. This is a good thing.
3. That isn't a pilot valve like OEM but would work
4. Which valve manufacturer do you have. During the time of your coach being built F/T changed valve companies. With this it will determine what is in the rebuild kit.

That number is correct for that valve, except the "R" is for the rebuild kit.  If you pull the coil off there should be a thin piece of material under it that will give you the valve number. I have posted how to rebuild one of those valve with pics. and will get the link when I find it.  You can get the rebuild kits for a little less than what you have found just shop around.

That valve is to notch and most of the time the valve will fail due to trash in the pilot valve orifice or a failed diaphragm.

Yes
The down side is you will most likely not  have good access to it's location. Other than that a ball valve will work just fine. There are a lot of F/T coaches that have manual ball valves for fill valves. It is the KISS system.
