Insurance

Just got renewal from Foremost. They went up 60% this year because they said a lot of claims on trailers and rv's. Has anyone used good sams for insurance?

I've used Good Sam and an affiliate and they are very good at maintaining a place for me to send my money. Never had to use the service while I had it but as eager as they were to take my money I always thought they'd be as eager to dole it back out.

We used Good Sam's and their affiliate. Came through on our Deer smack except for our deductible. Had a tiny problem, but we came to a quick understanding it was going to be fixed in Nac, rather than Dallas. Once they understood the coach was being fixed by the builder, no problems.

Ken,  I have an agreed value policy thtough Thum Insurance Agency.  Got them from Prevost friends.

My policy was going up a bunch, called Mellisa as suggested and kept agreed value for less than year before.

We paid $750 to Foremost in September. Was $725 the year before and $750 the year before that. Wonder if flooding in your area is the cause?

Anyone have a lower rate? Please let us know. Foremost was excellent when a tree fell against the back bumper a few years ago.

I'm like Chris, Safeco. Had National Interstate till they stopped rv business. Safeco was seamless  transfer. don't know if they are the cheapest, but it has been the same for 3+ yrs now.

We are looking for insurance this week and Rudy told me about Thumb, that they will I sure you for an agreed value if totaled as opposed to a regular policy that gives you the "wholesale" value, whatever that turns out to be.
Does any other company give an agreed amount in the case of a totaled coach?

The cost of buying insurance coverage for any given vehicle, owned by a unique individual, in a specific location (state/county/city), has so many built-in variables that comparing prices with other members is not useful.  Best to just get as many quotes as possible for your specific situation, then pick the best deal available to you.

I think you will find other companies that will write agreed value policies.  You just need to shop around.  We have our coach coverage through Progressive.  Our policy is not agreed value, and it is not full-timer coverage.  We carry insurance mainly for the liability protection, and to meet the letter of the law.  In the event of a total loss, we would be lucky to get half of what we have invested in our coach, but that's OK because we could absorb the loss.  What we cannot afford to absorb is a million dollar liability lawsuit.  That's (mainly) why we need the insurance, but your situation could be completely different.

Link below to Progressive.  You can work up a pretty accurate price quotation on their site, without ever talking to a "salesman".

Do your homework.  Decide what hazards you are actually insuring against.  Determine how much deductible you can cover out of your pocket.  You can save a lot of money by getting the right policy that best fits your needs and personal situation.

We have State Farm, About $1000/ year.  Great coverage, great service.  That is what you pay for.  Cheap insurance may save you some money now but when you need it will it do all that you need?  Maybe. Shop carefully. How much risk are you willing to assume?

In Georgia, Progressive offers road side assistance coverage. That along with full timers coverage sealed the deal for us.

Insurance Renewal Time
Every year the roadside service and towing mileage seems to be less and less. AAA used to be good but much less and it varies from state to state. Pays to do the research.
