Don, the 4.0.8 version will work with most Foretravels with 6 pin, 9 pin or DD data ports. Older coaches have limited data from the transmissions and not all of the gauges are reported on the data busses. There is one data bus on the six pin connection and 2 on the nine pin connections. The 4.xx versions use a different file format for screens and this screens made for the 3.xx versions and earlier are not compatable. The 4.xx versions have more gauges and many more features that make them preferable if they work on your coach.
I have 4.0.8 running on coaches back to 1995 with M11s and even a few older DDECII coaches.
The 4.xx versions have been working on faster sampling rates, data smoothing and other things to make it work better. The much newer coaches than most of ours have faster data bus speeds and the newest JIBs have faster chips in them to match up with them.
The 4.0.9 was released to testers (I have one) but has not been released for general use and probably will not be. The next version should be 4.1 and while in Oct at the GrandVention it was said to be coming soon and would include as TST tire pressure interface, "soon" is still a long way off according to my updates from Silverleaf. VMSpc is a pretty small chunk of their business and they have limited software development resources. Everything else seems to take priority. Maybe mid summer? Maybe.
Round gauges ... I made up several screens and while they are OK the round gauges take up a lot of space for the information you get.
Tire pressure interface ... in theory, yes; in software, soon; in hardware, last I heard, not yet. The cost of integrating a TPMS into your VMSpc will be much more than just buying a good stand alone one that you can leave on all the time. I don't want to discover a low tire on my VMSpc just before I need to leave and I don't want to leave VMSpc on all the time to watch tire pressures. And the same screen space argument can be made. A significant % of your screen space will go to just this function.
When the TST interface is available I will help someone who wants it figure it out. If you want round (radial) gauges they will be there for you to select from as well.
The bottom line is that if you want a VMSpc system do it now. You can always update as you go on if you decide you need to.
