Reasonable age for a tire when making a purchase

Getting ready to purchase my first set of tires, although I've purchased many sets of tires for my personal vehicles over the years I have never paid attention to the date of manufacture. With tire age being so important on our coaches what would be acceptable age upon purchase?

Try to get them as close to the same date as you can.  A higher volume dealer should have tires that are less than 4 months old.  Kind of what I have done.

When I ordered my Toyo's at Les Schwabe. They had to order them and told the distributor to make sure all were very close to the same date. And the distributor did just that. Maybe 3 weeks diff. between the 4 drives.

I insist that the date on the new tires be no more than 4 months old. I will wait on him to order them if necessary. At least I did when driving Foretravel's.

I do the same-- give the tire salesman (quickly referred to his warehouse man) the oldest date I will accept.

Even did that on tire for my car at Sams-- no problem, they ordered me a fresh set.

Bought a les Swab set of Toyo's, they were 10 months old. Was bummed when I got them home. We even talked about it before.
I quit les Swabs. Cheap tires, at super high prices.
Discount tire and Costco have been awesome. Costco here won't do RV's though.
7 years get rid of them, no matter how good they look.

I purchased a set of tires last week at a truck tire shop.  The oldest were manufactured on 0919, which I figure was last week of February.  Most were built about a month ago.  They had 72 of the tires in stock, oldest were from November of 2018,  and I did ask for some off the new end of the pile.

I used Discount Tire for quite a while and was pretty happy with the price, 8 hour service over the pass from Reno and the tire date. Recently, I found a refugee family run tire shop in Sacramento that does huge business and can get any brand in about four hours if the tire is in stock. They beat WalMarts same brand/model price by over $100 for a set of four for our ML320.

They advertise on Facebook Marketplace so no advertising cost and quote the out the door price to your phone with Facebook Messenger. Didn't over torque the wheels either.

Asian tires come by ship so a little slower and will have a little older date on them compared to North Carolina tires.

Twenty years buying Toyo rv tires from
Les Schwab Tire, never a problem they did not take care of.  That also holds true for tens of customers I referred there also.  I also like Costco and Discount Tire for their customer policies.  I use to own a tire shop.

Several sets of Toyo rv tires from Les Schwab, Junction City, Oregon, all were made in Japan.  Never had an issue, and always requested most recent, near matching date codes.  Just bought some Michelin take offs from a new Freightliner for a cargo box truck I own from Les Schwabb, for 20% less than the Toyos, date codes 12 months. (I will not own the truck in 2 yrs)

The local Les Schwab dealer has always been good to us for service. Free flat repair for tires we didn't buy there and they changed our Case backhoe tire for $10 including disposal fee for a tire we also did not purchase there. Yes, they don't discount much but sure give good service.

I had another tractor tire changed at a different dealer. They took the very directional tire off and mounted the new one...backwards and then the guy tried to tell me I gave it to them that way. Had to be meth induced. Incredible!

I bought mine at a tire place in Houston that moves 300 tires a day.  The last time I actually had to wait a couple of days for the next shipment to arrive from Michelin. Mine were only a couple of weeks old.
