How are windshield wiper arms removed without scratching anything?

How are windshield wiper arms removed without scratching anything?    I can easily get the nuts off but the arms are very tight on the posts.  I sprayed with PT Blaster but I'm looking for a way to pry the arms off without damaging them or scratching the paint.

Larry,

Right now, there is spring tension on them.

Swing the arms away from the windshield, then work to pop them loose.

If they still resist, pry them off with a screwdriver using a block of wood as a fulcrum. Just a little pressure should get them to slide off.

I took the picture with them flush with the windshield but I tried to loosen them when they were pulled away.

The pullers look like a thumb screw torture device but obviously are the answer.

Thanks to all
