A pair of good shops

This week I had occasion to visit two different repair shops, and I was quite pleased with both. I'd recommend both of them to any Foretravelers in the Emporia-Ottawa area.

The first is Ottawa RV in Ottawa, KS. They removed the old a/c and installed the new one in about an hour. The removal process created a bit of dirt inside which they vacuumed up. I was a bit concerned when the two young men who did the work first appeared, as they both looked like they were still in high school. They actually are a bit older than that. This is a family business, and I think everyone I met there was part of the family. I suspect that they will be looking for a larger place soon, as all four of their bays were full and coaches were parked outside the bays, too.

The second place is RV Doc in Emporia, KS. They took care of the water issues today - and on short notice too! I called them this morning and was able to get in after lunch. Again, this is a family business. Carl, the owner, used to work elsewhere (and is a retired teacher, just like us), and he opened his own business a few years ago. His labor rates are a bit lower than most other places ($95/hour) and he gives a discount to veterans.
