Cabinet Finish?

Thought I would ask the forum on this;  wife says wood is walnut, I say it is cherry.  Tried to find what wood was used in the owners book, but nothing in there on what was installed.  Your help and expertise is sought after!

Thanks in advance!

I would guess that cherry wood could be finished with a walnut stain, but I'm not sure that walnut wood would take a cherry stain as well.

If you have your build number the factory ought to be able to tell you.

Sometime they started adding the wood make up in the coach Model Id info like SteveB's coach info. His coach 4220 number, the last number is the wood call out. If your coach is new enough (being a 2000 it should be) to have these numbers the last digit will be either 0-3 IIRC, Each number being different wood. If you don't have those numbers then I will vote for whatever Rodger thinks.

I have seen 2000 U320s in walnut or cherry.  They were both U320 options in 2000. Cherry will be more red than the browner walnut. Some species of walnut can have some red tint as well. The picture looks like cherry to me.  If you look at the wood where it has been covered cherry will usually look lighter, walnut will usually be darker. Different species react differently to sunlight oxidation.  But then there at are lots of different types of walnut from different areas of the country.  Same with cherry.  It takes a bit of effort to try to match aged wood with new wood.

Thanks everyone.  I will call factory on Tuesday to verify.
It sure looks like cherry to me as well.
The reason I asked is I want to add a TV cabinet in the slide and theater seats behind the passenger seat.

Without some reference color in the picture it's quite difficult to tell, but my guess would be cherry.

I added a couple pieces of wood to the interior of our U300. Our wood is walnut but others could be cherry. Walnut has a distinctive smell when run through a table saw. Guess this is not an option here. :D

I attached a picture of my "lightened" walnut.  22 years is time for alot for lightning of walnut.  Back by the bathroom my walnut is darker.

Never, and I've walked in many, have I mistook walnut for cherry or cherry for walnut.  Cherry, as another said , has a definite red hue to it.  It is beautiful, as is the walnut. The lightened walnut, although lighter, maintains the brown hue.

It will be interesting when you contact FT with your build number and we find out which wood is in your rv.  Yours looks like cherry to me also, however, pictures are not that accurate on hue, and so it appears more to me like walnut.

My understanding is that oak was the standard wood used in U270 models of that era.

In the brochures the wood type is usually listed under "Hand-crafted _______ Cabinetry"
