Bay Door is hanging sideways!

A bolt on our bay door broke today and I have NO IDEA what to look for as a replacement! Lol

Anybody know what this is or where I can get it?

You are looking for a shoulder bolt 5/16. I found the at a Do It Best hardware store, in the specialty bolt section. I don't recall what length though.

I guess it's a smooth shoulder bolt?

Try Fastenal if Stainless Steel is desired.
I would recommend getting at least two (2) Shoulder (also known as stripper) bolts.
Your application is like headlights. When one goes out the other is usually not far behind. And if the one you replace (the one that didn't break) is still good, keep it as a spare.

Jimmy, google Fastenal and see if they have any stores near you. There are other bolt suppliers but I think they are nationwide.

McMaster Carr is another good source, MSC aka Manhattan Supply Company doesn't have a minimum purchase requirement. It depends on where you buy but those are either shoulder or stripper bolts.  Stripper for die set stripper plates.

We are back in business! Bought stuff for a spare. We went to many stores before finding anything. Fastenal was clueless. Didn't know what a shoulder bolt was... hardest part was the bushing. We only had half of one and ended up having to modify one to get what we needed.

jimmy, that is the downside to Fastenal They hire people that don't know a bolt from a nut.  I've had that problem on occasion but currently the rep is very knowledgable about his products I hope he stays around for a while!!!
