Kitchen Remodel

In between fixing my air tank sending unit, I finished up our kitchen remodel.  Took out the corian sink, cooktop and white microwave and put in all stainless steel.  Sink, faucet, Furrion Range, Sharp Micro/Convection.  Wife is much happier now !

Before and After pics.

Nice job! I like the Furrion range.  We don't like baking in the convection oven.

Looks great!  Do you remember which sink you used?  I did a remodel in a Winnebago and put in teak countertops and an undermount stainless single bowl.  It was a HUGE upgrade.  I'm not keen on tearing out the Corian just yet so it'll need to be self rimming right now.

I got at at Home Depot.  I believe that it was their brand (Glacier Bay), and if my memory is correct, it was a 25" 4 hole model. I used 3 for the faucet and 1 for the filtered water.
Be prepared......that Corian was a bear to cut. Used a jig saw and a reciprocation saw with aggressive blades. It was a pretty tight fit underneath for the sink clamps, but it does fight. Several choice words and some bleeding knuckles, but got it done.

Very happy with the finished product. The wife loves the larger single basin versus the two smaller ones.

Mark,
Did you lose one drawer to install the Furrion Stove Top and Oven?  I know Furrion makes a microwave also.  Did you not like it?

Yes, we did have to loose the drawer below the range. We had the Red Devil vacuum system below the drawer. I removed the vacuum and the vented drawer front below the regular drawer.  I used the regular drawer front to cover that opening. It fit just right.
I chose the microwave/convection because it was a direct replacement for the existing unit. I was able to use the same mounting plate that was there.  Made for a pretty easy install.

Mark how difficult was it for you to replace the microwave? There's been some discussion in the past about how removing it is a nightmare versus not too hard just takes two people. What was your experience on it? What model number did you get? I don't need a new microwave yet mine still works, but if it does die and I want to replace it with the same one.
Thanks

It was a Sharp 1818lsy model. It used the same mounting plate as the unit I replaced.  It wasn't super hard, did it by myself.  It was a little heavy but not terrible.  There were a couple of hard to find screws in the upper vent area.  Other than that, a direct replacement.

Jack, most of the over the range model of microwaves are the same size and will fit.  we took the old white one out and replaced with one from Lowes.  I kept watching their display model because they change out displays every few months.  It was normally priced at 500.00 plus and they wanted 450 since it was a display.  I looked it over and found 2 small dents in left side that you can't see, showed the salesman and offered 300.00 then I got my 5% discount when I checked out.  It fit the hole perfect and most importantly the DW likes it. BTW it is a Samsung

Wasn't the grill in your "before" picture the air return for your furnace?  Where did you re-route that?

Re: Kitchen Remodel

Hard to tell in the finished picture but I have the drawer front stand off about a 1/2" from the cabinet. Used the furnace for a week here in Colorado and had no issues. Also, the way the range sits into the cabinet it has plenty of open air space around it to draw in air if needed.
I may be wrong, but I believe that the furnace combustion air may be drawn in from outside. Someone with more knowledge may be of help on this.

I replaced my micro with a Sharp from Lowes. It has to be a zero open door and it was a 2 person job. there is a hidden screw holding the old microwave under the cover in the cabinet next to it

I've toyed with the idea of replacing the sink, also. Can anyone explain to me what the intended purpose of the small sink is supposed to be? I have no idea.

It's there to isolate (things) one job from another.  Some folks prefer them where others like a single, bigger sink..........just a matter of preference

The Atwood propane furnaces recirculate inside air. Air for the burner is outside as is exhaust. :)

Samsung convection microwave from Lowe's!  Just about any microwave will fit if it is 29.75 inches or close to 30 inches.  If you prop something under the microwave, it is doable by ones self.  Just look for the screws that are hidden up above and you should be good to go.  Took around an hour to do ours!  Happy wife!

To add to Joe's post these microwaves are the ones called over the range models--All that I looked at and measured were the same dimension

I've always preferred one large sink also, much easier to wash cookie sheets, cutting boards, and other big stuff.  I found a nice dish drain for that section.  It fits perfect and the only place I've been able to find one is The Do It Yourself Center.  You can't see it very well here, but it works great.  It's only ever moved when cleaning the sink.
