Just called and spoke to Tara. She asked for my bank acct # and said it will be mailed today to my washington mail address so should be here by Friday I guess. Thank you Tara (and Rudy) for this as we canadians are hit with 37% exchange rate already so would be nice to get some of it back so to speak.

We are on vacation in Canada. Got our card in a box of mail and installed the EFS app on my iPhone. Although we filled with fuel in Thunder Bay, just before we got the card, the savings would have been nice. I'm posting with kudos for the EFS app. As we traveled today I could see all the stops on our route where the card was accepted and prices which appeared to be 10-25 cents/liter less expensive than what was posted at the stations.

We'll next fill in Sault Ste Marie, prob Michigan, and will update our findings.

A potential side benefit I wasn't aware of is that the card provides a $200 cash advance, presumably at the truck stop you use it at, and presumably billed to the bank account on file, to give you cash on the road.

I was under the understanding that you do not get a discount on the fuel in Canada. Am I wrong?

Using the efs app and gasbuddy, it looks like eight cents a litre at Esso. Not too shabby.

We downloaded the EFS CardControl app to the DW's iPad today. Just playing around with it at the house - we are not on the road at this time.

When the station locator map is displayed for our local area, it is having a hard time finding one of the 2 local Loves Travel Stops. The one on the south side of Odessa is shown properly, in the right physical location, and with the correct fuel price.

The one on the SW corner of Midland, however is not working correctly. The little "marker" icon shows the station is located in the center of town, instead of on the edge of town at the I-20 exit where it really is.

For those of you who are actually using the app while traveling - is the map function pretty reliable? Does it show the Loves truck stops where they really are located? Are the discount fuel prices correct (at Loves in particular, since that is where we plan to use the card 99% of the time)?

I've only used the card once, can't speak to the accuracy of the map or the EFS APP, I did use the Love's App with the TSD card downloaded in the wallet section, was able to access the pump and get it ready to pump from the comfort of the coach. The price in the file sent by Tara was accurate. Highly recommend the Love's reward card and APP, the detail records and receipt show on your phone for future reference, the price however is the pump price not the discounted price. The best part was an overall savings of $36.00 on my first use.

Received my card on Friday and had a chance to use it today in Boise at TA Truck Stop. Pumped 92.5 gallons and received a discount of $62.08. Unit price was $2.58
Feel as though I should send Rudy some of the savings for the great lead. Thanks Rudy

Picked it up today and logged into website. Was checking some diesel stops close by here and an Esso station has diesel on at $1.349 a litre on Gas Buddy and the EFS sight quotes $1.129 a litre. That is a 22c a litre gap so for our gallon you save 96cents or US gallon 85 cents, crazy but good.
Who cares about air miles etc at that rate of savings.

I mentioned in a previous post that a $200/day cash advance was available with the card using the EFS app. There was a question about fees on the advance so I emailed Tara. Her reply:

"There is only a fee if you try to pull the cash advance off with out getting diesel and it is like 1.50. And yes advances are available anywhere the card is accepted and we will just take whatever you pull off out of your account"

Now this may not be a big deal but it adds a convenience we appreciate. Although we keep some cash on hand, over a multi-month trip we usually need to replenish. This will allow us to get cash while on the road without an extra stop. Tara explained the advance is widely used by their drivers.

Card Price was $2.359/gal. Saved a little over $60 on our purchase.

I assume you would go inside (the truck stop) to the fuel counter and have them run your card...then they give you the cash?

We have had a Discover card account since 1986. When we need cash we just use our Discover card when we check out on the "self checkout" scanner machine at any Walmart store anywhere in the country. It will let you have extra cash - I think up to $200 per day or something like that. There is no charge or fee for the cash advance. This has been our only "pocket cash" source for many years, since we do not have a local bank.

Never had a problem of any kind.

Chuck, doesn't your cash advance come from your credit card with a fee from the credit card's bank?

We also don't have a local bank. We take our visa/master Debit card into any bank teller (other than BOA) and get a no-fee cash advance without any limit that I know of.

We do it all across the country and for many years.

We never use our debit card for anything else. Just cash advances.

No, sorry - it has nothing to do with the TSD/EFS card. I should not have even mentioned it. I just was offering a alternative to using the EFS card as a "cash advance" card, since that is not it's primary purpose. My bad for derailing the thread.

And my reason for posting about cash advance wasn't to suggest it be your primary banking resource, just a convenient, no fee (if you're already using the card for fuel) way to get cash when you're stopping otherwise to get fuel. Just another arrow in the quiver.
