It's late and my eyes are half-shut but when I do the math I get;      Grand total 34,040# (36,400# allowed).

He's using the 10,000 lb towing capability added to his gvw.

I only added up the "allowed".

5,240# (5,400 allowed) should be  5,240# (10,000 allowed)?

I am guessing the 5,400 is the GVW of the Jeep. but the coach can tow up to 10,000

First there is the maximum allowed axel weight, the combined maximum weight of the front and rear axels is the GVW.
GVW is the gross vehicle weight only - the towd weight has nothing to do with this weight - this is the combined allowable weights or actual weights of the front and rear axel only.
Being less than a maximum weight only affects tire pressures settings.
GCVW is the gross combined weight of an already correctly set up tow vehicle (the GVW) and it's allowed towd or trailer weight which is 10,000 lbs for that Foretravel.
GCVW has nothing to do with the GVW (the tow vehicle weight) which is in this case your Foretravel
