Stains on ceiling fabric1997 u320

What is a good way to clean the fabric on the ceiling in the older Foretravel?

Chem dry works well. Also I deleted the second post that was exactly like this one.

We had great luck with Resolve and a Bissell carpet machine on a very dirty and stained headliner on our old coach.

I had several dark stains and grease on the ceiling fabric, I used kitchen cleaner (bleach) in a spray bottle which worked great. Just don't stand under it lol.

We also have a new Bissell 2x Pet Pro carpet machine. Works wonders on the wool carpet, upholstery with the included hose. Also great for carpet headliner on the 1993 and later Foretravels. Listed for $299 but I found a factory return/repaired for $125 delivered. Very happy with it as it was in a new box, etc. Spray headliner first around the AC outlets, etc and then use the wand/hose/brush.

I had a bad water leak in my front air conditioner which left a bad water stain on the ceiling.  Tried different products with no luck.  I went to my local ACE Hardware and found this product, Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover.  Worked fast and worked great.

We talked to chem dry in nacogdoches and they were going to do the entire ceiling and inside the cabinets where our ac ductwork is for $175 or $200.  We bought a couple cans of the chem dry spot stuff but it would be impossible to do the entire ceiling.

Thanks. Everyone. I used resolve stain remover and it worked great. Now the rest of the ceiling looks like it needs cleaned.

I had some stain left behind after new ac's were put in.. Cleaned that up and now the rest of the ceiling that I thought was pretty clean already..... NOT.... Learned years ago that it is a never ending job to Improve and maintain a rig with some years on it... I dread this.

Same here. I cleaned the ceiling in front of the old fridge. Now I have to clean everything to make it look right. Balance to be done at a leisurely pace.  ;)

Just rent a Rug Doctor/carpet cleaner with the upholstery attachment and get the entire ceiling done fast.

Think that's what I will do John.. my other method using spray bottles and a shop vac takes to long..  Tough enough working overhead.

Guess I'm kind of glad no one saw me doing it, but some foaming spray carpet cleaner, plus my Oreck XL vacuum cleaner held upside down and run down the ceiling worked a treat.  The beater bar is the secret, each pass left a white swath through a field of light gray.

So.... we've used cleaners and steam cleaning to clean the carpet on the ceiling. That is just treating the symptoms. Has anyone looked into alternatives to the AC housing (air distribution box) so that the air doesn't blow dust and dirt into the carpet? It seems that some other models blow the air down rather than out.

We have the Duo-Therm Penguin units.

Maybe I could create deflectors for the air distribution box similar to the pieces in this post where they have ducted vents.

Fred,

We have used the deflectors (ours are clear plastic) and an upgraded our filter media for a long time. The filter media has also extended the time between cleaning the evaporator coil. While at it we swabbed out our ducts with a feather duster taped to a fiberglass rod fish tape. Have not had a problem with dust tracts.
