Residential Fridge is Trimmed!

Finally got a chance to trim out our new residential fridge! Turned out pretty good considering the limited tools and supples we have on board. Loving the fridge ❤️

Looks nice Jimmy,  Get a Kill-A-Watt meter or something similar and report back energy use (watts) over a month or more.  Interesting to some of us to see what power usage measurements are for different options.  And as Hans asked refrig details.

When DW and I made a visit over to Jimmy & Christine's coach, we had a first hand view of some of his upgrades!  The man has talents!

Looks really good. Did you have to keep the roof vent for a residential fridge, and if not, do you plan to keep it or close it off?

Just curious where did you find trim wood? I need to trim out my fridge change out and am having difficulty finding walnut trim which will work for my application.

Thanks,
Larry

Larry, not sure about Jimmy's selection, but I went to Lowe's and found some trim that matched as close as I could get.  Turned out great.  They have a lot of selections on wood trim.  It is plastic, but looks like wood and it filled the job!  Hope this helps!

Keep in mind, that wood does turn color with age and unless you play with a stain, a trim will always be difficult to match.

Thanks Joe, I hadn't considered plastic, but it would work and remain stable. I've got to go to the city today anyway.

Rockler has what you need. In my case, walnut stock and veneer.

No matter what wood you start with (walnut, cherry or oak) or how it was originally finished it will change color over time mostly due to UV and age.  Walnut tends to get lighter and redder.  Cherry tends to get darker and deeper in color.  If Rockler is your only choice then you can try to find a match but it is the finishing process that will match color.  Rockler prices are quite high but you get to see what you are buying.

Do the best you can.  Buy extra wood and try different stains and topcoats to get as close as you can.  A good match looks right, a poor match is pretty obvious.

It looks like Jimmy did a good job matching color.

Residential frig switch

This is related to this thread, hopefully, close enough!  I installed a switch for our residential refrigerator yesterday.  I just used a lighted switch (when on) and a 15' extension cord.  The refrigerator does not have an on/off switch and as others have pointed out, it is nice to have an easy way to turn it off.  It is not permanently installed and just sits in the space next to the sliding cabinet base.

The selected media item is not currently available.

We used the panels from the front of the old fridge! Just grit your teeth and cut them up! It was HARD to make the first cut!

We left the roof vent and sealed off the side vent... with foam. I don't like the look and need to find an alternative. Not high on the list right now.
