Engine Battery Replacements

Been away for a few years but getting back into the Foretravel world with newly acquired 05 295.  Need to replace engine batteries and I'm sure there is still plenty of chatter about the best one and the best deals.  Any thoughts on something like 4d AGM's would be welcomed.

I have the red top spiral Optima batteries. I have 3. Seems to work good but is expensive for the 3.

Three 4D AGMs are going to cost over $1000. You could install 31 series commercial batteries for about $300 with about the same CCA. Both will last about 10 years. No reason to go to deep cycle on engine batteries. Just depends on your budget.

I went with three conventional 31 series @ 2850 CCA. Last set of 24 series went 10 years with one a little low at that time.

Hi Bob,

I too just went through replacing engine batteries on my 2007 Nimbus. The forum gave me great advice and I went with two 31 Series batteries and I bought mine from NAPA, like Pierce mentioned, no need to go with deep cycle for just starters. Originally I was looking at Odyssey (AGM) brand, but they were very pricey and pretty much overkill for just starters.

Best,
Pat
