VMSpc Transmission Mode Gauge

I have a "gauge" to indicate the transmission mode setting.  The gauge displays the number 1 for normal mode and the number 2 for economy mode.  I would prefer to have it display the word normal or performance for the number 1 mode and the word economy for the number 2 but have been unable to figure out how to do this.  Can anyone help with this?

You need to make a message gauge whose message is based on the value of the PID for the Mode Gauge.  If the value is 1 show "Perf" and if it is 2 show "Econ".  I can look it up tomorrow.

Details.
Select New Gauge, Message Box, set for one line. Link to Transmission Mode.
Set Messages from Advanced Menu.  Add messages.  Set Transmission Mode = 1 or 2.
Make the Message Perf or Econ for Mode = 1 or Mode = 2.
Click OK,  Move the Message Box. 

Save your screen.

You can do the same with audio alerts.

I had scoured the VMSpc Forum and got nowhere.  With your step-by-step directions and especially the images, I think I finally got it set up.

Another gauge to take the text route is cruise status.

Off. On.  Set.  Is clear as mud. I'd prefer cruise off, cruise standby, cruising.
