Power Tech/Kubota Fuel bleeder knob

My Power Tech / Kubota generator is a little hard to start so I just replaced the small 12v fuel pump-fuel lines-fuel filters-and the little bleeder knob was leaking fuel, so I went to local Kubota tractor dealer and they had the part, for older Kubota engine, so I replaced it so now fuel system is refreshed. Starting the gen I push the prime button for 15 to 20 seconds then fire it up,I understand when you push prime it warms glow plugs and pumps fuel to injector pump. The question is the prime knob should it be closed or open a little all the time??

I have a Kubota tractor which starts immediately, every time, even after sitting for weeks.  I'm having difficulty understanding why this is a problem for our generators.

I only bled fuel line once when changed fuel lines, she starts easily with 10 seconds of prime.

Art.... I can think of no benefit to leaving the primer open.. If anything it may be a place for air intrusion into the fuel system..I don't know that to be true, just my logic..Someone may jump in and teach us both something but until then I would close the fuel system including the primer.
