Need suggestions to troubleshoot Hadley's

My Hadley's performed normally until yesterday.

I found the solenoid/switch under the dash. When I depress the horn button the solenoid clicks but nothing happens. All the wires are tight. Could the solenoid be bad even though it clicks? It looks fairly new and had 'Made in China' on the side.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Jeff,

Yes it could still be bad.

I would pull the air line of the discharge side of the solenoid and then push your horn button.  Now if the solenoid is working it will dust the underside of the dash so wear safety glasses.  If you have air pressure then you may have something built a nest in the trumpets, not likely overnight though.

If the solenoid is sticking, a few drops of lightweight machine oil in the inlet port may get it working until you can get a new one. Best to use an oil approved for pneumatic tools and not a penetrating oil such as "mystery oil" as it can cause the seals to swell and the plunger to stick worse later on.

This is what was clicking when I pressed the horn button, not the solenoid. This was wired over to the Hadley Solenoid. A wire on that was loose, easily fixed, back in business.

Thanks as always.

Other brands mounted the Hadley's in the front cap.  No dirt. No wind noise.

If the Hadleys are going bad ( sounds like they are not), why not put in a train horn ?                >:D
