Water filter question

Bought a double filter set up. 1 sediment then a carbon filter.

I didn't see anything in the non-existant instructions on what to do with them in between trips. Are they to be disposed of if you are not using the coach for a time. Do you drain and pull the filter to let them dry? Right now they are still in the filter housing and were put in new about 6 weeks ago. So they are still in water.

Bigdog. Did your instructions happen to say "run water through the carbon one for 45 minutes" like mine did.  That seemed a little excessive but they are supposed to last up to 15,000 gall so I did it.

No idea. My concern is that they have sat in disuse in the water within the filter housing.

Between trips I dump all the remaining water out and leave them loose until the next trip.

That's what I'd also. Change them yearly.

I remove mine in the fall and throw them out and replace them when we head south.  I always run water through them before hooking them up to add water to the coach.  Rule of thumb (at least my thumb anyway) is six months use then change them and the one under the sink too.  Maybe once a year, maybe twice.

If the filter was hardly used, I drain the the water out as much as possible, put it in a freezer bag and freeze it.  When I need it I thaw it out reinstalled it and flush it out again.  Can't  build bacteria or mold if it's frozen.  I wouldn't trust a new filter sitting for a long time, especially in the heat.  I do the same with the ADC undersink water filter.

Jerry, the one under the sink and a pre filter before the softener.

I only camped for 4 nights on these filters and perhaps 3/4 tank of water through them. But just put the filter assy in the bay. The coach is parked under cover and temps have been mostly in the 60's hi & 35-45 night.

I would imagine that they are fine as the water lines have sat filled before.
To be safe I'll order up more filters.

I'd be fine with that also. But do carry spares.
