What heats faster?

Does the engine at idle or the electric element heat water the the water heater faster?

I would say the element heats faster.  The engine heat option only has a one foot or so aluminum tube welded on at the back.  The submerged element should do it faster.      We sometime use both,, electric and propane.

If the engine is cold to start with, it will not get hot idling. The coach engine needs load to heat up.

David,
Do you know what they "Did" to fix it?
It would help to know what (if any) parts they replaced...........

Tell us how far into the "working on propane" it gets so we can help you fix it.

Do you hear the clicking of the ignitor?
Do you hear/feel the gas valve opening?
Do you smell propane?
Does it light but not stay on?
Etc.

To answer questions: I have no idea what they did to it, they finished working on it and sent it over to Xtreme who have had it for a month, picked it up there on Friday afternoon and went back to MOT to get some other incorrectly finished items addressed in the few minutes we had on Friday before they closed. I will call them on Monday to find out what they did.
As to fixing it, because it was getting a lot (WHOLE LOT) of work done in four places over seven weeks I removed all my tools and just about everything else from the storage bays - I will be home late Tuesday and will take a look at what's happening.
Thanks

Please don't take this the wrong way, but.............. are you sure the main valve on the tank is open?

"FORETRAVELERS" I AM LAUGHING SO HARD!
MOT had this gas turned off at the tank, pure genius that you said that, when I read it I said "I never shut it off" then remembered that MOT filled the tank and the valve was OFF
30 years of RV ownership and the brain is evidently not what it was
Thank you!

Two weeks ago.  I changed out a high resistance sail switch in the front furnace for a new switch.  I buttoned everything up. I turned up the thermostat and listened to the furnace cycle including hearing the gas valve close.  I did it twice to be certain.

I took a deep breath and went to close the main gas valve again . . .

And if you try to start the furnace or propane generator when you are out of propane the odor you get might convince you that your black tank has sprung a leak or is over full.
