room Slide will not extend

2003 GV320 with hwh series 2000 computerized leveling system. After coach is leveled, key is turned to extend slide. Yellow light blinks and should go solid before extending, but the light never becomes solid, and the slide cannot be extended. The slide has an air seal which is deflating appropriately. Anybody else have this problem.

thanks,
Karl

Is your 12 volt basement air compressor running while attempting to extend/retract?  If not, try starting coach engine and build air to max then retry.

Have you tried the HWH reset switch at drivers left arm, then retried slide?  Is the coach level with no yellow out of level lights on?  Re-leveling may help if you see yellow out of "perfect" level lights.

There is a switch in the basement on the controller you can turn to over ride the HWH computer. I can look  for the photo if you need.

Edit: The one to override the slide out computer interface  is located on the side of one of your HWH boxes in the basement.  It is a round switch that takes a small screwdriver to operate.  It says "120 220" on it.  I believe the "220" position is the override and the "120" position is the normal position.

Be absolutely sure your slide bladder is fully deflated, and coach is level before using the over-ride.

Type this: "slide override"

in the search window top right for more info.

I thought the override was for just moving the coach with the slides out?

I thought the override was for just moving the coach with the slides out?

A month or two ago our coach was out of level, but no excessive slope light.  Our slides were out, and coach could not achieve "perfect level".  I could not retract slides, could not achieve level to satisfy the system, and could not drive up onto boards.

I used the over-ride, and was then able to retract the slides.  I then turned off the over-ride.

Note: excessive slope light was not on, and it was "near level" , so no binding retracting slides.  I have since had one technician tell me the slides "should" operate as long as excessive slope light is not on.  That was not the case for us.  The slides had deployed ok, but due to settling or some other event would not retract (due to yellow out of level light apparently).

I did not try using the override to drive forward a couple of inches up onto boards with the slides out.  That may  have worked fine, but going into travel mode would have bound up the slides due to how unlevel our site was?

At that point I moved to a more level site.

We have tried all of these suggestions except the override switch. I will try this tomorrow.  After the seal is deflated, i can hear a click, but nothing else happens.  I appreciate your help.  I will let you know if the override switch fixes the problem.

Try starting the coach.... build pressure .. release the brake and reset.. auto level and try again..

Also if the key is on or the level system get confused it will not turn the orange light off. Mine has a reset button but try turning all the 12v system off and doing a reset if possible.

Unfortunately I have tried all of the suggestions and so far the slide room will not go from a flashing yellow to a solid yellow. I even tried moving the motor home to a perfectly level spot.  thanks for all the suggestions.

Do you hear the aux compressor running?

IIRC, in a 2003, even though the bladder may be deflating, the venturi aspect of things needs to reach a certain vacuum level for the light to go solid.  That generally requires the aux compressor to run.

For long-term storage, we used to pull the inline fuse for the aux compressor.  This was because we stored away from home, and if a slide bladder would develop a leak or if the condensate bowl unloader solenoid were to hang up, the aux compressor would have run and run with no one to shut it down.  We only forgot to put the fuse in once, and what reminded us of it was exactly the behavior you're seeing - blinking yellow light that wouldn't go solid when we wanted to move the slide.  Once it dawned on us that we weren't hearing the aux compressor run, we remembered the fuse and all was well.
