Table Base Mechanisms

Can someone take some close ups of internals for me and measurements of what this is made of and how?

I want to make one but have never seen one in person.. Wondering how it works and why so I can dublicate it.. Or any idea where I can find one online?

Does this slide out and if so... how.

Basically I need the who, what, when, where to this thing. Thanks in advance

I'll bet David Flanigan has one in his attic at FOT. I suspect he has remodeled a coach and removed one.

David.  This style of table base is an L shaped steel structure .  The vertical is four pieces of 1.5" square steel tube.  The  horizontal piece is two pieces of the same tubing side by side.  Ans there are two pieces at 45° as a brace.  There is anothe short piece of square tube and a 1.5"x~ 6" x 1/8" piece welded across the bottom leg on edge. 

The bottom leg on mine has 5 holes on each tube through top to bottom.  The flange has two holes side one on each side.  The assembly is mounted to the floor of the slide with the flange up against the edge if the slide, with two thread forming bolts into the edge of the slide steel frame.  The leg has 10 of the same bolts (but longer) through the leg into steel framing in the blottom part of the slide.

The top of the post has a 1/4" steel plate cover welded to it.  The table base gets bolted to it

The table base is a 12" square of plywood with the EW edges beveled to 45°.  Two 3" strip of laminate is glued on the top parallel to the bevels.  The table slides on the base using two 45° beveled hard wood strips mounted to the underside  of the table to form a sliding dovetail joint.  I will add a picture of this later.

Does it move at all? SLide out of is it bolted and does not move?

The mount does not move. Later Phoenix models had a motorized in/out base.  My table allows about 13" of EW slide, plenty. I modified the pedestal to move it about 1.5" closer to the base of the slide to allow the table to slide almost to the cushions.  Leaves more aisle room when table is toward the wall especially with a rectangular table.

Ok that helps.. all this time I thought they moved.. I could make an actuator for it to move(I think).

Much easier to make the table top move. Adjusted correctly it will stay anywhere you leave it even while driving.

Actually can make something pretty easily (I think)

Going to use the plastic they use on the 5th wheel hitch that allows it to slide with no grease.. 2x3 tube with maybe some 1.5x2 tube with the plastic stuff on the walls.. add a piece of solid round on the end and in the ope and closed position it will have an indent to sit in.. Should be easy now that I see how it was constructed(basic Idea).

Thinking out loud but I might use a 10 or 12" throw actuator on the inside to make it move in and out at he pop of a switch..

Table mounted to base photos, in and out position.  Table In and out.  A much more useful table than the football shape.  A snug fit in the joint and some wax makes it work well.

No matter what shape table you have you can change its position on the base to make it a better fit for you.
