Xtreme Step Conversion Pictures

I had a PM asking about the step conversion we (and many others) have had done at Xtreme Paint & Graphics. Foretravel also does the same conversion as well, though I can't say whether there are significant differences in their approach to the structural mounting process. Foretravel uses these same "Kwikee" steps on their new IC37 coaches and I believe they may have used them on some models in the later 2000's such as the Nimbus, but I can't say for sure. Since I can't send attachments via PM's, here are a few pictures of the one on our coach.

I could be wrong, but I want to say a little over $3K when we had it done around Christmas of 2013. We had work done at Xtreme that amounted to about $17K and the step conversion was an add on not part of the original estimate. Xtreme removed the decals, painted the graphics (our own design), did the deluxe headlight conversion (included license plate recess and moving the fog lights out of the generator hatch to below the high beams), TIG welded aluminum storage compartment (which I did most of the labor on the installation because that was another job tacked on to the initial graphics and headlight conversion), and a few other items which escape me at present.

The step conversion is awesome - one drawback, it hangs down lower about 3-4" lower  than the OEM step , so it can be damaged fairly easily

The Oregon based Kwikee was used on Safari Motor Homes, specifically Beaver. The Kwikee company sold for $30 million in 2003 to Actuant. In 2014 Actuant was acquired by Drew Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lipport.

I had to remove a OEM Kwikee step on a 30 foot diesel Beaver a few years ago to complete the sale, and get it into a customers driveway.  The factory unit even surprised me how low it was. He preferred the now step less Beaver, with a manual step, to his old rv.

You missed it. Had Xtreme do it when I had the headlight conversion. Watching it get done, I could not cosmetically get the surround for the step myself.

Make it from core cell or a marine foam, glass it in, after cutting it to fit, paint.
Not sure how to afix it though.
Do you find it to low Craneman? That might be a issue.

The frame Rance builds is the low point, had one issue with no damage, leaving a fast food joint with a steep apron and a street with excessive crown. The frame was built to score blacktop without damage to the frame. Had I checked the exit out I could have gone at an angle and nothing would have hit.

My experience exactly, except I was leaving a Walmart where they had recently repaved the road leaving a huge lip at the gutter. When I suspect there may be a prohibitive exit angle of attack, I raise the coach up on the air springs and move along through it slowly before it settles back to ride height. Much more likely to be a problem with the overhang at the rear especially with a hitch extension for our bike rack.

We did ours (Xtreme did the work, we paid) about 5 years ago.  About $3,100.  There maybe other options but this one is, for us, the best upgrade for safety we have done.

When Xtreme repainted my 2005 U270 and did the headlight conversion last year, Greg at Xtreme looked it over carefully and then said they could not do the step modification to that model. I would have like to have had it done
