Binding Tambour door.

Opens about 3/4, then sticks. I've looked on the search engine and see silicone, which I've tried. I see wax used; I've tried, too. Unless someone has a new idea, I'll take the door off: looks daunting because of the tight quarters. Looks to be a metal plate with three screws top & bottom. Any 'tricks' or warnings?  :-\

Thanks, Chuck!  I did see that post in the files. Looks like the rails stay in and the top and bottom square head screws come out. Hope I can find a set of drivers at our local Ace.

Look for one of those magnetic shaft screwdrivers that stores 5 or 6 different tips in the handle.  They usually have the exact size square drive tip that you need.  I think it's called a Robertson #2 driver.

I was looking up "Robertson driver" just for fun - accidentally got a little smarter.  Never realized so many different screw drivers out there.

I just ordered this, not that I need every 'little bit', but a fresh tip is always handy.  ^.^d

Mike, do you mean to say, that with all the #2 drive screws on and in your coach, that you did not have a #2 screwdriver bit?

Perhaps that is why SOME people (not me) have been overheard saying that Mike has a loose screw?

Oh ya, I live by #2 Phillips, but never had a need for Robertson before. I've noticed that the bits DO wear out and some of mine, as much as I like them, are worn out by miss-application and plain 'ol hard work, much like me!  ^.^d

Ony square drive I've found are the Tambour keepers, but given all the Tambours I have, I'm sure my new driver set will come in handy? Other than a uncomfortable location, anyone have any advice for remove, clean & replace?  :-\

Mike, there are about 2 million of those square drive (Robertson) screws on our rigs.

On our 300, I removed all the tambour doors, cleaned and oiled them, sprayed the plastic tracks with silicone and reinstalled. There really isn't any trick. It's just real awkward to get at the screws. Just use a #2 Robertson screw driver and a flashlight. Good luck.

Oh great! Now you guys have me looking at all the screw types as I walk around the coach. So far, NO square drives except the tambours!
