Inverter Drive Rooftop AC in the Future?

Message: Does Dometic have any plans to introduce a 120VAC inverter drive rooftop A/C unit to the U.S. market, similar to the Harrier?

Dometics answer:
Not currently. We are not yet integrating any new ACs over to the states and the information is limited to if we are.

Dometic seems to have little interest in advancing the technological level of RV rooftop units available in the USA.  As soon as they took over the Atwood brand they killed off the Air Command 15k heat pump model.  It was one of the highest rated "dual motor" units available, RIP.

I love inverter mini-splits and sure wish there was an motor home model. Would be able to avoid those big holes in the roof and run much, much quieter, be more energy efficient and would be more comfortable since they vary the compressor speed to run constantly.  Would be awesome if they made retrofit units in fit in the Dometic/Atwood hole and a slim ceiling mount for new install.  Possibly a multiple head unit for front/rear coach comfort.

We installed an off brand mini-split in our upstairs room a couple years ago.  Keeps it very comfortable and did not notice any utility bill increase....lets us run the main unit less.  If I recall correctly, it was around $700 delivered for a 9,000 BTU heat and A/C unit with remote control.  Heat elements for extreme cold use were available, but did not order that option.  I did order the USB which allows monitoring/controlling the unit from a iphone app.

I have ran into this with other companies that get bought out and the new owner kills products and/or upgrade development.  I am guessing that Dometic does not feel the cost of producing this product for the US would increase profits. Or it could be that an American law is keeping it from happening without a lot of hoop jumping.
