Haldex air dryer service, what do I have?

Looked at my air dryer today. Only thing marked on it is the canister filter on top: Haldex Brake System, hand tighten only.
I want to service it and will probably order a re-man unit. What do I order, is this a Haldex unit with the Haldex filter?

I ordered a service kit and had my mechanic do it. Included everything needed. Didn't need to replace entire unit

Interesting. Most kits do not include new valves, 12 VDC heater, etc (the stuff that can wear out.

Most "kits" are filters only.

Do you have a PN or link to a complete OH kit?

The Haldex reman. complete air dryer number for your Pure Air Plus is DA33100X some have a "BX"

Would start by cleaning that mofo,will be easier to remove and/or rebuild.

No, mine just needed the service kit as everything was working and I had no record of when it was serviced last. Think it was $75

These are the 2 kits I used, seems complete except for heater.

Forrest This is the kit I used. Unhook hoses unbolt unit unhook wire to heater remove. Kit was complete and ready to install, filter included. Bought from my local Napa, they had to order it, took a day or 2.

The DQ6020 is a must if it has not been rebuilt in awhile,is to rebuild the purge valve, did the "tech" even clean the old parts and lube the o-ring,if not it's only half rebuilt.

Find It Parts has a complete remanufactured unit for $262. May be worth checking out.

I just went through this.. bought a rebuild kit and as my luck always is.. wrong!! Never fails.

My unit is a number that doesnt exist anymore so I had to track it down by braille... Found it finally ..Haldex Dryest was the brand and type.. mine looked similar to yours but they all look alike

folivier. When I personally physically looked at your coach it had not been operated in more than six years. IMO. Prior service was way before that. Did you remove the filter and inspect for decomposing desiccant? This will lead you down two entirely different paths. If there is evidence of any white, pink faded powder your system is contaminated. These filter were designed to be operated regularly and serviced no less than three years in the desert. Yours has lived in Kansas and shows by the surface corrosion. If it's brand new looking inside, dust free, sure rebuild it yourself. How many miles have you accumulated since you purchased? The cost between doing it right will be less and less stressful than doing it twice or more and rebuilding from your dryer to your airbags and brake calipers while repairing everything else in between. I am however very glad that you are looking at it. You will pay your coach repairs now or you will pay later, usually more. Keep up the good fight. You have a worthy opponent.

That being said I would get the Reman and keep the parts you have to use at a later date.

Brakes and braking systems are not a place to save money. Recently I tried to save money on my Siata project because the 40 year old brake shoes looked like new. Until the linings peeled off on three brake shoes. New shoes all around now.

We've already talked it over and we're going with a remanufactured unit, new hoses and a new D2. I'll keep the second D2 that was accidentally duplicated on the order.

I do plan to buy a reman unit. But from my research it seems there was a changeover around 1999 due to the compressor that Cummins used. So I'm not sure what unit is on my coach. Couldn't find any numbers and was hoping someone might know that has replaced one on their 1999 with M11. I did see that one on Finditparts but want to make sure that is the one I need before ordering. They have a 20% restocking charge.

BTW dsd my coach is from Louisiana, not Kansas.

pull the basic measurements off the outside.. Your filter looks like mine with an internal one and not the spin on.. I have a rebuild kit for anyone needing(extra)..

see page 05-16 part number 47178964 filter .. that is what was in mine.. thinking yours is similar but verify..

Folivier, mine has a spin on filter so I suspect yours does also. To avoid making a mistake, take yours to NAPA and have them match it. You may pay a little more but you'll avoid ordering the wrong part.

Quick update, found the tag. It is a DA33100X and looks like a reman date of 0613. So it is ripe to be redone. I just ordered a reman unit from Finditparts and sprayed the fittings with PB Blaster. Probably will just replace the filters when doing my yearly maintenance but at least I'll have a better data point going forward.

When I replaced mine, I was able to get the Haldex remanufactured from my local Napa store.

There is a difference between a regular NAPA and a truck NAPA, but if you live in industrial farm country it doesn't seem to matter.

The nice thing is, if you clean it up first, you can bring in your old dryer and hoses, plunk them down on the counter and ask for new ones. And while you're at it 2 D2 governors.

Right after I placed my order with Finditparts I got an email for 10% off on my first order. I emailed them and they will apply it to my dryer. That's good customer service!

I change my dryer filters every 18 months. The other Brett recommends 3 year intervals. Yearly filter changes is overkill.
