Custom BBQ/TV

Well with all this time on my hands, nice to get to work on our coach. Usually I am slammed getting ready to race, and working on other peoples coach's. I have wanted to do this for years. As simple as it looks, it took some engineering. TV lifts to access tool box.

1st picture is how it was when we bought it. Previous owner did a beautiful job building that part all out of stainless steel. Second is how we been running it. Big hassle getting the TV out, and hooking it up, then it rains!. It''s now hooked up all the time (along with BBQ), roof antenna, HDM satellite.

I always felt it needed a door over the chair place, and a drawer below TV. Best part is, I built it all out of left overs from other jobs.

Next project, finish deal removal, and new graffix's, and finishing the LED light conversion of the Florescent's. All the rest are done.

Stay busy, stay health, and be safe.

Looks great. I suffer trying to reach tools so will finally have to put them on a slide. We have the same BBQ. They are really EXCELLENT. But ours does not slide unfortunately.

Thanks Pierce, I had to move the tool box back, to make it work. It is a lot of weight on Joey bed, but it works. I added a center wheel to help support, but even with that, stuff gets crooked when you pull it out far. Something I had to build in for with big clearances.

Lots of room behind it, and easy to get to still.

I considered putting the tool box where the chairs go, and have it roll out, but way too heavy.

Going to have a black vinyl cover made to cover the TV when not in use. If I need tools in the rain, then the TV gets wet. There was just no easy way to do it. Sat and stared at it, for days while in Yuma, then got the buzz! Now it looks so simple.

Yes, great BBQ, that is why we changed it. We use the BBQ mat on it, so no mess.

Nice job!  I may steal your idea of putting my BBQ on a slide tray.  Right now I have a box it sits on with a stove under it.  I have to pull out the joey bed to use it but if I rebuild it with drawer slides it might work better.

Looks pretty nice, Chris.

I will continue to take our wonderful O-Grill 500 out of its compact storage space and use it on a picnic table where the smoke and fire and all of the other stuff that comes out of a grill are away from the coach.  We got some of the same grill mats a while back and they are nice for fish and other more delicate things.  We make our own small pizzas and two 8-10" pizzas fit nicely on the grill mat.  Fun to make.

The manufacturer of the grill mats warns about cooking burgers or steaks or anything that will produce a bunch of grease to keep paper towels handy to mop it up as it collects on the mats to prevent a grease fire.  Not a good thing close to the coach.

Hey Roger, did you ever try using a pan on your Ogrill?
Wondering if it would work ok as a stovetop.

Roger I had one O grille recalled by the maker and tossed as the regulator was in a non vented area.

The replacement grille started leaking from the regulator area after a few years. Tossed.

Separately the brass jet slowly plugged up lowering its heat output.  O grille had no parts available to replace the jet.

Bought a small square Cuisinart bbq recently.

We got our O-Grill that was made after the recall.  It does not leak gas, it has worked flawlessly for more than 8 years and it gets used frequently, several times a week.

Different grills for different folks. This one works for us.

The O-Grill is a very nice grill, cast iron grate, stainless steel burner.  I clean it with a pressure washer a couple times a year, never any issues. We use it with both the small green cylinders or the hose from the coach.  Always away from the coach.  It is thinner and stores much more compactly than any other we looked at, that is what we bought it.

The temps on the surface of the grill mats with the grill on high after plenty of time to heat up were over 400°, a bit cooler towards the front.  We have cooked walleye pike filets on there with good luck.  I had a Lodge cast iron griddle that I was going to bring along  and forgot. One side has ridges, the other side is flat.  I want to try that for a fish fry.  Given enough time the griddle will get hot enough and perfect for a quick fry.  I use a cast iron frying pan on our bigger gas grill at home.  It works very well.

I suppose it would work well for any pan as long as it has time to heat up.  For eggs or grill cheese or something like that probably will work.  The small pizzas worked very well, almost too hot for the crust we were using.

We use the O-Grill for baking and reheating things from the freezer.  Breads, rolls work fine on the lowest setting on the grill.  We smoke baby back ribs at home, glaze with BBQ sauce in the oven, cool, double wrap with alum foil and freeze.  Then vac bag.  Thaw out on the road and throw them on the grill still wrapped up at the lowest setting for 30-40 min for great ribs on the road.  Sometimes we will put an 8x8 alum pan upside down and the stuff on top of it for a little slower cook.

We try to keep the cooking we don't want to stay in the coach outside.

Being within a mile or so from the beach here the high moisture and salt corrodes things quicker.  The brass jet corroded,  check yours,  used to get steak fry hot.  Then  less and less as time went by.  That caused me to clean the burner itself and remove the gas jet.  Holes in the burner had closed a bit. Jet has closed up also.

Then the regulator inside the plastic cover started leaking.

The Nexgrille first replacement grille has porcelain tent type covers over the in-line burners,  plus the grate

It's very large for our uses and the wind affected it's best output greatly where we like to camp at the beach.

The smaller Cuisinart griller has the same porcelain grille and covered burners if memory serves me and the three sided wind screen design like a ?Coleman stove but shorter abs  does a better job for our windy uses and it's grille area matches our uses better as does the 600 degree, thousand one thousand two hand pullback heat test.

Switched to Anova sans souis(sp?) cooking for steaks in a seal a meal bag.  129.5 degrees for hours with salt and pepper then blackened makes incredible steaks

So back to the original post. Glad your all happy with your BBQ's.

Thanks for the personal email's, here and on my FB page with all the compliments and questions.

Glad the smoke, grease and fire was mentioned. We love the smoke and smell of grease in our moho, so I will remember to leave the windows open next time we are BBQ-ing, and be sure to roll the unit in closer for those grease fires we never have, just in case we have one.

BBQ Mat continues to to work awesome, has for  5 years. Many of my friends use them, and love them.

No muss , no fuss, cleanup is a breeze. Zero grease in tray, better then a greasy BBQ.

Probably the reason we love our Weber.

Cheers
