Using the Ice maker

Never had one before and don't know if this works. Do you need 110v to use it? Just flip the handle and leave the water pump on ok if not hooked up to city water? Just wondering about this and wondering if it's even worth farting with.
Thanks

Must have the water filter under the sink, have the water valve beside the filter ON
turn on the switch below the door, it's hidden in the grill
Drop the bar in the tray and above all have 120 volt power,
12 lbs a day, love all that ice!

And, you need to verify "sources" of 120 VAC.  Some icemakers are on an inverter-powered circuit.  If not, driving all day could leave you with a real mess!

Super. I would assume if it doesn't work it's the ice maker unit itself.  I'll just replace the entire icemaker and water solenoid if it doesn't work. It's a 1996 FT and original

Well it's corroded and shot. Just ordered a new ice maker and water solenoid from Lowes for $52 bucks complete! Win-Win

Does the $52 ice maker from Lowes keep the ice frozen?

I'm going to find out! Sounds mighty cheap doesn't it. Has anyone placed a ball shut off ball in the water line to the ice maker? Where did you put it, Inside or outside in the panel access. Has anyone replaced the line to the ice maker from the solenoid? Mine may be cracked from not being blown out for winter time from the previous owner

Installed an inline shutoff since it doesn't have one to icemaker from solenoid in outside access

I just got a valve, I plan on installing under the sink. That way I can isolate ice maker from filtered water at sink dispenser.

Surprised FT didn't do that anyway. I have an under the sink filter, but can't see if it feeds the ice maker. It does feed the separate water spigot on sink

After assessing the entire situation, I'm going to leave it broken. The line from the solenoid to the ice maker concerns me from age. I looked at the pics what's entailed to remove frig and replace line and I just don't need it that bad. I did put a shutoff on the line to the icemaker so good enough.  A 20lb bag of ice will do just fine since I'm not full timing it.
Thanks for the help

Have you looked for a water line, in the space behind the frig, from the outside?

Have you tried plugging in the ice maker directly into a 110 volt extension cord.  The power button is below the freezer sections door.

Thanks, Bob. The water solenoid is shot but the ice maker powers up. I'm not going to fix for now. A project for next year> I've spent all winter upgrading and fixing. Ready to just use it for this year.

If the compressor/cooling works, but water does not-- congratulations, you have another FREEZER.

Is not the ice maker buiit into  the freezer side  on a 96 U295?  All 295 and 320's had 33" Dometic refers with the icemaker internal? Not a separate Uline..,.the 96 and 97 and 98's(?) had the separate 110 volt compressor  Dometic.  Icemaker and/or compressor were 110 volt.  The refer compartment has two circuits built into the one duplex plug.  One straight 110 the other can be pass-through the inverter or inverted power.  I have switched the plugs if memory serves me and have run the refers 110 volt dual heaters( 2x225 watt) off the inverter just to test.  Another backup.  Run the refer off the inverter,  save propane.  Cools a bit  better.

Yes. I have two, duplex plugs in the outside compartment. 4 total available plugins.  One duplex has nothing in it and yes, the icemaker is in the freezer compartment.

The  duplex plug with nothing in it may be inverted power.  You might try it just for gee whizzes?

Our Dometic 4804 with icemaker has two duplex outlets in back.  One for the fridge heaters and the other for the icemaker's compressor.  The solenoid valve for mine is in the vacuum cleaner compartment under the fridge.  The icemaker is on the shelf in the cedar wardrobe.  I have hard icecream.
