Water Tank Fill

I took inspiration from post 5 tank modification, but took a little different approach, going through the tank area cover and installing the vent next to the fill pipe. I elevated vent and fill entry pipe to prevent water from running back out during fill.  One photo shows the plug after I drilled into the top of the tank.  Parts cost about &30.

installing the vent next to the fill pipe.

What happened to the OEM vent pipe that required another one on this side?

Peace of mind, my overflow is now plumbed to spray harmlessly on the ground in front of rear tire

Based on opinions from several posts I thought I need the vent. If I don't the vent it can be easily removed since connections are not glued?????

Your tank already had a vent. It vented outside near the rear tires. No need for a second one  but the existing one could be better placed.
Your vent is not better placed.
