Getting ignition key made

I brought my ignition key to a company that only makes keys.
Twice I tried and both times they don't work.
I'm going to try once more but am I missing something.
They have done our key s for years with no problem

Rick, might be easier to just buy a new switch. They are cheap and available at any parts store and of course come with keys. The switch is a common failure point on these old motorhomes.

How badly worn is the original? The cutter can't add material to the pattern of the oringinal only remove it.

That might be it. It's a 1998 . It may be the original key.

Just went thru this issue.  I had a couple of keys make at a ACE hardware, took a couple of tries.
This is the pn from ACE:
Coach Ignition Key blanks
ACE Hardware B44  with an E(thickness?) on back side

Today purchased lock assembly from Napa. P/n KS6491 $19.95 before discount. Pick up in a hour from now. 2001 U320
New Keys new lock. All I lack is installing.

I have chev vans that are hard to get the key that is used all the time to start to turn  the ignition  I go and get a new key based on the number  and it will work  like new

What's involved in installing this I wonder?

If it's a gm lock set.
You will see the little pin hole. Insert something that will fit in hole. While old key is in lock in the vertical position. Push in gently on pin hole. Gently pull straight back with key pulling out tumblers cylinder.
If entire assembly just unscrew trim ring. Remove wires from back. Take photo first.
Install is reverse.

Appears to be a 70-80 Chevy dash ignition key lock. There is a small pin hole in the front . Believe it's the release pin. Will have to read up.

With just the lock mechanism no wires to mess with, just pull out the old and put in the new.

I ordered a new key set from eBay $19 total with shipping and tax. I tried to get another key made last year at the local Lowe's and was told that they couldn't make one. So I figured might as well just change out the whole thing and get two new keys.
