Re: Odometer Digital Number Display

Good morning! Has anyone experienced the odometer digital display flickering on and off? The background light stays lit but the mileage numbers keep disappearing? Just happened for the first time? I do not find any loose wires or connectors? Is it possible the LED is failing? Are replacement gauges available?

Mine had been replaced by the PO with a note under the dash so the odometer was not corrected.  Mine failed again in the subsequent 170,000 miles.  Replaced by FT without correction.  They said it was illegal for a shop to correct an odometer, you have to do it yourself and face the consequences.  I just marked up the dash note.

Different states, different laws?
The odometer in my 2000 model has been changed twice. The first was done at FOT by the PO. There was a note behind the cowling stating the the mileage and to add the odometer for total miles. It was about 65,000 miles at the time and I had to add the odometer if I wanted the correct mileage. When I changed my odometer in NC, the shop changed the mileage after they asked me a few questions. My mileage at the time was over 100,000.

Just watched one of those TV judge shows a few days ago. It was a used car sale gone bad. The state law on the show was, if it was over one hundred thousand miles on the odometer not illegal to correct mileage. Another judge mentioned 10 years.

Richard replaced our speedo at 102?k 8 years ago.  The tach's hours fade in and out.  Speedo's miles fade in and out also.  There is a place that can correct  replacement gauges numbers to be correct I read here
