What are the new fangled pumps? Maybe I will just eliminate it with my new Shurflow and try it!

Bought a new Shurflo a few years ago, took the air tank out ,you don't need it, pump was'nt new fangled,it should say on your directions if you need the tank or not.

Called Shurflo and I don't need it but he said it will give me a bit more pressure with it. My model is 2088-554-144, new last December. I'll try it without and save $200+ dollars. If I don't like it without I'll add it back.
Thanks for every ones help. Once I get it out, I'll go to HD and compare their $45 dollar one

The customer service flack you spoke to obviously does not understand the function of a diaphragm pressure tank.

Hint:  A pressure tank does not increase the pressure put out by the water pump.

"The pressure tank (diaphragm or captive air tank) has three purposes. It stores water and provides water under pressure when the pump is not running. It builds up a reserve supply of water so the pump starts and stops less often, prolonging the life of the pump. In addition, it provides a reserve supply of water for use during times of high demand."

Good to know. I'll keep it. I could barely understand the tech. He was from India
