raising on air bags and leaving

Ok. I had emergency Hernia surgery Sunday so I'm down for weeks but getting my list together when released.
I need to raise the coach to maximum to repair my rear inner fender wells where the tires hit. I did buy 4, 12 inch steel supports to support it as the forum suggests. Can I raise it, put the supports in the back only and get after it? My manual says you have to hold the raise button down to hold the max.

My advise would be to get supports for the whole coach so when you raise it it will be level and not under any stress,will be easier to have someone hold the raise button while you put the blocks in as when you let go of the raise button it begins to go down.

If the engine is OFF, turn your HWH panel ON, use the rear UP arrow to raise the back end to max height, release the UP arrow and simultaneously turn the HWH panel OFF.  Rear air bags should remain fully inflated.

If you are running the engine (to get required air pressure) while raising the rear end, just turn the ignition switch to OFF while still holding the UP arrow depressed on the HWH panel.  Same result - rear end stays up.

yep, like Chuck said. When I did my AH rebuild, I had mine raised for 3 weeks and they never went down onto the safety stands that I had. I had cut them 1/2" short to make sure they fit, and never touched them. That being said, I won't work under the rig without them in place. I've beat death twice before, not going to be stupid and try for three.

I would add that's it's a good idea to dump enough air to bring some weight onto the stands. One time I was under there and one of those 12" receiver hitch extensions just about nailed me when I almost knocked it off the frame rail.

They are kinda weighty aren't they?  Would put a dent in yer head, for sure.  The Harbor Freight page says they weigh 6.36 pounds, but I swear mine feel heavier than that.

I keep all 8 stands, plus the factory "push bars" that insert in the front receivers on our GV, in a plastic storage bin.  Dang bin is HEAVY!

I welded a piece of 2" channel to the bottom of my tubes, it straddles the frame rail and holds them in place.
